The Mumbai Indians kept their nerve in the Super Over to defeat James Faulkner's Gujarat Lions for their seventh win in the Indian Premier League. Malinga ended up with figures of 4-0-33-2.
"Nathu Singh has been bowling extremely well in the last two games and Basil Thampi too has been a consistent wicket-taking bowler in first class cricket". The former did well by proceeding with two run outs and the later grabbed in the match in the Super over delivering a victory to Mumbai Indians.
Mumbai had to bat first and Kieron Pollard and Jos Buttler came into open. Aaron Finch and Brendon McCullum, two of the most unsafe T20 batsmen in the world, were all at sea with Bumrah's incredible skill. Each of his deliveries were unplayable proving why he is an asset fpr the Indian team in limited overs format.
The two teams were tied at 153 at regular 20 overs per side.
Krunal and seasoned off spinner Harbhajan Singh have been effective and the team management would like all these bowlers to restrict the RCB batting line-up. "To make things hard for them after they managed only 153 for nine after choosing to bat first, the Lions" lost their best bowler Andrew Tye, who was injured badly in the while fielding in the deep, but fought valiantly.
A lot will depend on the performances of all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja, James Faulkner and Irfan Pathan. The last over drama between both the teams led the game to super over after Mumbai Batting line-up collapsed in 153 runs and they fell short by one run to achieve the target. With the win over the Lions, they levelled score with table toppers Kolkata Knight Riders, who are ahead on net run-rate.
Jadeja slog-swept his second ball from for six but the innings was rescued by an eighth-wicket stand between Faulkner (21) and Andrew Tye (25 off 12), who put on 43 runs in just 3.1 overs.More news: The Disaster That Is Donald Trump's Tax Plan
This was after the former India U-19 captain Kishan's attractive strokeplay provided a solid platform which they failed to capitalise. With Aaron Finch and Brendon McCullum coming out to bat, Malinga would have been a more sensible option.
Harbhajan was once again at his parsimonious best.
Ball 2: Bumrah to McCullum, No run!
The Gujarat fielders were outstanding as they affected four run-outs, including three in the last seven balls, to bundle out Mumbai Indians for 153 off the final ball.
Looking to hit Thampi over the onside, Hardik miscued his shot as Ishan Kishan claimed a relatively easy catch at deep midwicket.
"Very good birthday present, great game of cricket". Not only did he stick out his hand in the other direction to prevent the boundary, he also ran McClenaghan out with a direct hit from fine leg. Riding on that momentum, Irfan came in to bowl his second over, and started off with a half-volley first ball. Bumrah bowled a really good over.
