USA Today's Sam Amick, who is included in the selected media voting panel for this year's MVP race, has made a list of both Westbrook and Harden's basic and fancy statistics that could be considered when deciding who will be this season's victor. He'll preach team success, but there's no denying his desire to receive the trophy that anoints him as the best player during the regular season. He is putting up career bests, and most importantly, doing his job for his team.
Oklahoma City shot an impressive 47.6% from the field.
To be fair, this appears to be by design rather than selfishness on Westbrook's part. He is not finished pleasing his team either.
Paul George is one of the first examples that come to mind when thinking about the new CBA rules. He had seven consecutive triple-doubles from November 22 to December 5.
His first seven-game triple-double streak lasted from November 25 until December 9, with the Thunder going 6-1 in those games. A 14-0 run to end the game and defeat the Dallas Mavericks, the most points ever in a triple-double against the Orlando Magic, and tying Oscar Robertson with 41 triple-doubles in a season.
With five games left on the schedule, a record is all but set. It has not been broken in half a century.
That is an Oscar Robertson highlight tape made by the National Basketball Association. The NBA's reasoning behind the decision is that there are too many player incentives tied to the voting to have subjective voters.More news: Raiders reportedly not welcome in Oakland for 2019 season
On the season Westbrook has 39 triple-doubles. It's looking more and more likely Robertson will have company after this season. Fittingly enough, Westbrook accomplished the feat against one of Robertson's old teams, the Milwaukee Bucks. OKC with Durant would have not given Westbrook the opportunity to chase Robertson's record.
A look at Westbrook's triple-doubles in 2016-17 compared to his first eight seasons in the league.
Last season Stephen Curry averaged 30.1 points, 6.7 assists, and 5.4 rebounds a game, hit 45.4 percent from three, with a PER of 31.5, and the Warriors were 22 points per 100 possessions better when he was on the court. His play has still been up as of late.
This was the seventh-straight triple-double for Westbrook, which is an incredible feat itself.
CITY (AP) - For just a few moments, Russell Westbrook slowed down.
"We just have to try to regroup and work on our game", Memphis point guard Mike Conley told the Commercial-Appeal. The Thunder bench ignited for 53 points as twelve Thunder entered the scorer's column. Tying Toronto for the third seed in the Eastern Conference, Washington dealt Charlotte a significant blow after it had crept closer to a playoff spot with a three-game win streak. Today they will be playing Memphis in search of their 45 win of the season.
Kawhi Leonard scored 32 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and took charge of the game at the free-throw line in the final seconds to help lift San Antonio. On the other hand the Thunder are coming off a win over the Bucks. He clinched a double-figure rebound average during Tuesday's game and needs 16 assists to average 10 for the season. The Thunder are now 43-33 on the year and hold the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference.
