And the dimensions are curious: it has an 18:9 aspect ratio (2880 x 1440), which means it's a little taller than your usual 16:9 widescreen display. For example, you can divide the screen into two flawless squares for perfectly sized Instagram shots, while a new Guide Shot mode lets you overlay what you see over a previous image to help with composition. Wireless charging on the G6 will be a USA exclusive (LG gave some wishy-washy reasons for this, but my guess it is boils down to U.S. customers asking for it). BlackBerry kicked off the event by launching the KEYone smartphone with touch screen and physical QWERTY keyboard, and today LG finally took the wraps off its 2017 flagship smartphone - the G6. This is the first phone apart from Pixel to get Google's Assistant. We'll know more when it becomes available, which should happen in a matter of days. LG says the device passed 14 different military-standard 810G tests, so users can stave off worries of drops and rough environments. The G6 is armed with a 3,300mAh battery along with Quick Charge 3.0 feature to give it a quick boost from 0-60 percent in just 40 minutes. Putting it in simpler words, the phone's length is two times its breadth. The primary sensor is 13MP with f/1.8 and a 71-degree field of view with OIS. The company already showed off the handset's camera capabilities, wide-angle lenses, and imaging software in recent teasers.
For the front, there is a 5-megapixel camera with a wide viewing angle of 100 degrees and an aperture of f/2.2.
Gone is the painted over aluminum and removable bottom and here in its place is an attractive aluminum and glass sandwich that comes in black, platinum, and white.
LG also laid stress on the fact that it has made the G6 go through extra safety measures to ensure that its battery is safe.
A large display dominates the front of the phone.
Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, said, "The G6 offers users new visual and manual experiences, as it marries an expanded screen with the convenience of one-handed use". Dubbed UX 6.0, the interface will feature something called a square camera which will divide the 18:9 display into two identical flawless squares. "The LG G6 offers a big screen that fits in your hand". Simply choose between standard and wide angle settings.
Expand your selfie experience and get the bigger picture no matter what the subject! It also sports dual rear camera setup with 13-megapixel sensors and a 125-degree wide-angle lens.More news: West puts on record performance in All-Star Game victory
LG has also added some interesting modes to the camera app, allowing you to capture the best photos.
LG's focus on the 18:9 display is evident throughout their MWC 2017 presentation.
Combine two photos into one, or create 2×2 photo/video grids to share with friends.
Stay tuned for my full review of the LG G6 in the very near future.
The LG G6 packs in several improvements over the LG G5 like most next-gen iterations and for those looking to upgrade, the enhanced display may seal the deal.
The G6 is water and dust resistant as well, the first time for a G-series phone, and it has an IP68 rating. The screen is also HDR10 and Dolby Vision HDR capable, for brighter brights and better colors and detail on compatible content form Amazon, Netflix, and others.
The LG G6 comes with Google Assistant.
