Saturday morning, after a win over the Texas A&M Aggies on Thanksgiving Day, the LSU Tigers have named Ed Orgeron head coach.
Orgeron, who took over on an interim basis when Les Miles was sacked September 25, mentioned Aranda and his staff in his opening remarks, saying he planned to take his time and assemble "the best staff in America".
What was in Orgeron's binder?
Secondly Ed Orgeron pleaded his case with Alleva on why he should be given the job full-time. The first also was in the SEC - at MS from 2005 to 2007.
The things in Orgeron's "blueprint, or mindset" for LSU's offensive future include: a dual-threat quarterback, a heavy use of tight ends in the passing game and, in regards to LSU - a ferocious run game is imperative.
"I feel very confident he's going to be able to deliver on 90 percent of the names". Who knows (or cares) who else expressed interest in LSU.
Administrators, agents and other industry sources weighed in on Coach O to LSU and other items around the coaching world in the penultimate week of the season.More news: Wenger: Alexis wasn't forced to play
Peveto has had two stints at LSU, starting in 2005, and was hired both times by former coach Les Miles.
What is true is that Oregeron seemed to help spark the team to playing with a little more emotion and consistency on offense, and even though it's not the number one thing the AD is probably looking for, there is something to be said for a coach the players love. The most prominent interim success story in recent years was Dabo Swinney, who was promoted from receivers coach to head coach at Clemson to replace Tommy Bowden and has turned Clemson into a national power.
"Sometimes your best recruiters are the players on your team". Tyler is a member of the LSU football support staff, while twins Parker and Cody are in their first year as part of the McNeese State football team. With the exception of Alabama, everybody beat everybody in conference play. Orgeron was recruited by LSU and initially committed there, but later chose to follow Hebert to Northwestern State. "One team, one heartbeat". I wanted to take it one step at a time, and every step I went, I was preparing to come back home to LSU.
Then, there's the legion of fans and media, wanting a big-name coach, who touted Herman as an offensive genius. Overall, LSU's defense, under Aranda, ranks in the top three in the SEC in three major categories - scoring, total defense and rushing defense.
"Growing up in the state of Louisiana, watching the Tigers play, we get it", said Orgeron, who is only the third Louisiana native to coach the Tigers since LSU joined the Southeastern Conference in 1933.
According to rumors, Coach O will keep Defensive Coordinator Dave Aranda on board which will make LSU a force to be reckoned with, but will also look to draw Lane Kiffin from Bama. "I have an idea (what happened), you can probably figure it out".
