Brooklyn is the only other team that will play the Cavs and Warriors on consecutive nights (Dec. 22-23).
Two of the top teams in the NBA's Eastern Conference, who have a history of meeting in the playoffs, are squaring off tonight in Cleveland, as the National Basketball Association champion Cavaliers play host to the Raptors. Fans were rightly disgruntled and the Cavaliers obviously missed their MVP. Unfortunately, they were never able to get any closer than a few points each time before the Pacers moved the lead back up. The result of the previous matches played by the Cleveland is, wins from the Philadel team by (101-102) on 6/11.
Both teams emerge from Tuesday's chaos and have little time to dwell on the result before hard Wednesday games.
The Cavs were without the services of a resting LeBron James and a still-injured J.R. Smith. Nine straight points followed for IN and any thoughts of pulling out a victory evaporated. With 59 seconds on the clock Channing Frye hit a huge three-pointer to give the Cavs a two-point lead, with James and Kevin Love combining on a perfectly executed backdoor play after a timeout to push the Cavs four points clear. "That's a team we have history with".
"We just play like that now".
And exhausted of being the fourth worst defensive team in the league, an intolerable mark for a defensive stalwart like George - who finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. However, Toronto came up short against Cleveland just as it did in last year's playoffs. The refs didn't have a handle on the game the whole evening but in hostile ground, probably have to call that one, regardless of Lowry's intent.
James makes several plays on a nightly basis that are totally ridiculous, and still seem completely normal for him.More news: Gilmore Girls' Date Night With Mom — Netflix
Kevin Love added 19 points and 13 rebounds for the Cavs, who have already had their share of tight games. The former UCLA Bruin's excellent season continued as he lead the team in points and rebounds tallying an impressive 27-16 on the night while looking like the Cavaliers best player in LeBron's absence. Both scored at a rate higher than their season averages. When Love burned them for an open 3-pointer, Pacers forward Thad Young got one of his own the following possession. The Cavaliers would still go on top and dominate the Raptors with force from the big three.
"Jeff is a scoring point guard", said McMillan.
Five Pacers reached double figures with Turner scoring 12 and C.J. Miles leading the bench with 10 points.
Cleveland is clicking, showing no signs of a championship hangover.
"He's a talented player", Teague of Irving. "I think we did a pretty good job". He also only committed two fouls on the night. "Every time we touch the floor we want to win games", the player said. Young was out in transition often and afterwards, credited paying better attention to the coaching staff to the team's recent two game turnaround. James is so smart and his teammates know where to be, so even when Toronto defended right, they got the shots they wanted. "But we're getting teams' best shots home or away and we'll be a better team for it".
