Norman and Bryant's trash talk started off playful.
Norman, who signed a five-year deal worth $75 million in the offseason with Washington, did not trail Bryant exclusively in the game, but the two were in each other's faces after Bryant caught a 13-yard reception against Norman on a slant route. Then he called Norman "soft".
"He was holding the whole night, man. It's like you scared".
"Who is 88?" Norman said, referencing official Brad Freeman's number.
With Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant and Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman being two of the most outspoken players in the National Football League, it was nearly a cinch that the two players would get into at some point in Thursday's game between the two teams.
Ten years ago, Dan Bailey found himself back home in Mustang, pondering his next move after leaving Arkansas before his freshman season began.
"I won't say emotional on my end, I'm [going to] say emotional on his end", Bryant said.
So, that's at least some progress. Washington's second cornerback, Bashaud Breeland, has been getting absolutely torched this season, so it's more likely Norman is on Bryant more often than not.
That didn't mean Norman was ineffective as he clearly got under Beckham's skin. "Change the staff. We changed the president; let's change them, too", he said.More news: Virat Kohli demands India fielding improvement in second Test against England
Dez Bryant hasn't been the focal point of the Cowboys offense the way other elite receivers are, but that doesn't mean he's not having fun.
Feeling some pressure, Prescott rolled to his right. As much as a cornerback and a wide receiver can have an individual beef, raised in intensity by playing for archrival teams, it's still about the teams. Even if he didn't pick up the first down, the Cowboys were sufficiently in Dan Bailey's field goal range. And Bryant is probably overdue for one of these game balls.
"I honestly feel like the guy is extremely soft", Bryant said immediately after Thursday's game.

"I didn't make it personal".
The NFL would benefit from fans looking at any given Sunday's slate of games, and saying to themselves, "I can't wait to see these two guys go at it".
After that series, a member of the officiating staff directly addressed both players. There were several players who delivered, and that certainly includes Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott. Williams felt like that's what Norman was trying to do to Bryant on Thursday. Bryant finished that game with seven catches for 102 yards but did not have a reception on Norman.
Bryant and Norman got into it on the field. He would have made it about him. "I thought he was focused throughout the ballgame, locked in on what he needed to do to have success".
