Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) does enough to make sure that even if the battery power of its cars reduces zero, the customer is not left stranded, and there is enough reserve to take the auto some distance.

This update to Tesla's Ludicrous mode technically makes it the fastest-accelerating production vehicle now on sale, considering the McLaren P1, Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 are out of production and don't achieve 0-60mph times this quick. It could accelerate from 0 to 60 miles an hour in 2.5 seconds, making it the fastest vehicle in the world (excluding supercars).

According to Tesla, the Easter Egg, which should be the 8.1 update, will only improve all the P100D Ludicrous vehicles in the Tesla Model S and Model X range.

The Tesla Model S 100D will be able to accelerate from 0-60mph in 2.4sec when a software update arrives next month, accroding to a Tweet put out by CEO Elon Musk today.

Its latest trick is to make the P100D variants of the Model S sedan and Model X SUV go faster than they already do.

The P100D will contain a 100kWh battery - increasing performance over the existing P90D model. It will be released nationwide in December, so we will not have to wait long to find out what other surprises the company has in store.

Tesla is increasing the base price of the Model S by $2,000 as of November 22, the company announced Friday in an email. That could all change, and just in time for the Model 3 production ramp-up, thanks to a new development. Kids from about three to eight years old are the target market of the Tesla Model S for kids. This is accompanied by Tesla's advanced air filtration system, too.

While this is great news for Tesla owners, there is a small catch. While these improvements may not seem that massive when we're strictly looking at the numbers, it's still pretty incredible that Tesla has managed to do this through a software update.

The extra speed will hardly be noticeable from the vehicle's current capability but it will solidify the car's position among a series of fast electric cars capable of competing with regular combustion-engine powered supercars. Which version takes your fancy?
